Books not selling

February 2nd, 2007 at 03:54 pm

So far, not a single book I have put on Half.com has sold. But, since it is free, I will keep listing them.

My routine is, first check it on cash4books. If they buy it great, I'll sell it to them. If they don't, then it goes onto half.com. I have about 7 more boxes of books, then some grocery bags full.

Does anyone know of a way to rid ones basments of paperback books and make some $$ doing it? I have put them on craigslist and on the local radio swap. no luck. There are no bookstores or anything around here that buys them either.

I am to sub today, for 1/2 day, and I sub 4 days next week as well.

well, i was gonna suggest finding a used bookstore until i read your post a little more carefully... Frown perhaps there is a non-profit that could use them: you could donate them and have a deduction for your taxes? worst case, if they don't sell and aren't acceptable anywhere as a donation, you could use them as firestarters (ACK!)

Our libraries used to give receipts for tax purposes when you donated books. I wonder if you could advertise a book sale instead of a garage sale in the paper. Here wed. and sat. are the best sale days I think. Maybe you could get some cash then. good luck!

I would suggest putting them in a garage sale but doing them really cheap to get rid of them. It will be garage sale time soon and I always do really well making some money. have a great day- karen

I send mine to the library, I can get a donation reciept and they can deal with them. but I am lazy. (andhalf didn't want enough of mine I stopped checking)

I usually sell books on amazon or half, and would suggest against selling to cash4books if you are listing on half anyway. If cash4books is buying the books that means they have high resale value and also that they sell fast. You would make more money by listing the books you sell to cash4books on half or amazon than by practically giving them away to cash4books who are just going to turn around and sell them for a profit.

The ones I am putting on half are older paperback romance books that no one else wants...
But, I didn't know you could sell to amazon. I will have to check into that one. Are there fees??
