About Me

Two years ago I quit my job of 20 years to remarry, move and become a "farm wife". For the most part, I am now a stay at home mom (with the exception of a few temp. odd jobs and sub teaching here and there).

As of the 2007 school year, we are now a homeschooling family.

We also farm. Our farms include a large garden, haying, horses, cows, geese, chickens, ducks, rabbits, 2 stocked ponds, small vinyard and an orchard.

We live at the main farm (the one with the animals) and our other farm is currently growing hay, nuts and firewood to harvest this fall.
In the spring we will be adding sheep, pigs and turkeys.

We have 5 daughters, (including 2 sets of twins) 3 who are still at home.

I love to camp, travel, garden, fish, bake, do needlework, sew, genelogy and ride horses. One of my favorite places to travel to is Northern Indiana (LaGrange county), where I have Amish cousins and to learn about my ancestors.

My goal is to help this family stay on track financially and to stay out of debt, other than our mortgage.

that way, we can recycle plastic bottles into drinking bottles for our rabbits. But, all I can find is having to buy the entire water bottle set up-with a screw top instead of a rubber stopper top. They used to make them, I used to get them. Now, I can't find one anywhere. You would think with all the recycling and green efforts out there that someone would make them...Used to be 6 in a bag for around $3. (yes, I am talking back in the 80's...)

Still only 1 bid on my ebay auctions, but I still have another day to go, and do have 6 watchers. But, at least one item will go, unless they pull a no pay.

We have a place here that sells grain and farm type supplies called Farmer's Exchange. I haven't been in there for awhile but they should carry the type of thing you are looking for. Farmer's Exchange is probably only a local company to here but I'm sure they have similar type of store near you.
Also you could try looking it up on your search engine
online. I'm a big fan of finding more unusual things I need by just doing a search.

I wonder if a science teacher at one of your local schools could point you in the right direction ... I'll bet that's the sort of thing they buy.

Google "humming bird feeder" and you might find the tube and stopper you need. I think I've seen them for about $1 per kit, and you can buy them in multiples. Do you need the kind in which a little stainless steel ball acts as a valve at the end of the tube?

Yes-metal tube with a ball bearing in it.
