About Me

Two years ago I quit my job of 20 years to remarry, move and become a "farm wife". For the most part, I am now a stay at home mom (with the exception of a few temp. odd jobs and sub teaching here and there).

As of the 2007 school year, we are now a homeschooling family.

We also farm. Our farms include a large garden, haying, horses, cows, geese, chickens, ducks, rabbits, 2 stocked ponds, small vinyard and an orchard.

We live at the main farm (the one with the animals) and our other farm is currently growing hay, nuts and firewood to harvest this fall.
In the spring we will be adding sheep, pigs and turkeys.

We have 5 daughters, (including 2 sets of twins) 3 who are still at home.

I love to camp, travel, garden, fish, bake, do needlework, sew, genelogy and ride horses. One of my favorite places to travel to is Northern Indiana (LaGrange county), where I have Amish cousins and to learn about my ancestors.

My goal is to help this family stay on track financially and to stay out of debt, other than our mortgage.

I ran out of foil today

and saran wrap.

Whats that got to do with anything you ask?

I last bought it in 1997 when the Price Chopper near me closed. It was on their last day they were open that I bought all they had. For a nickle each.

Took me 10 years to use it all up, but, hey, how often can you buy Reynolds Foil or saran wrap for a nickel?

I bought a case and a half of each.

I have some of that nickle foil in my basement pantry. Got about 7 rolls left!! I bought mine last in 1992.

It will be a sad sad day to bid the last of it farewell. Meanwhile I'm keeping my eye out for another good sale!

Going long again next time I see it. Think we'll be lucky if we can catch it under a dollar this time???

That is a great story, 10 years of tin foil and saran wrap ... I'm in envy. Figure the savings for the last ten years as prices have increased.

I love this story! I want foil for 5 cents!
We do still DH's British version of Saran that he brought to the US with him (he's an oddball) when he moved 7 years ago.
