About Me:

In 2006 I quit my city job of 20+ years to remarry, move and become a "farm wife". For the most part, I am a stay at home mom.

As of the 2007 school year, we are a homeschooling family.

We also farm. Our farms include a large garden, haying, horses, cows, geese, chickens, ducks, pigs, rabbits, 2 stocked ponds, small vineyard and an orchard.

We live at the main farm (the one with the animals) and our other farm is currently growing hay, nuts and firewood to harvest this fall.
In the spring we will be adding sheep, and turkeys.

We have 5 daughters, (including 2 sets of twins) 3 who are still at home.

I love to camp, travel, garden, fish, bake, do needlework, sew, genealogy and ride horses. One of my favorite places to travel to is Northern Indiana (LaGrange county), where I have Amish cousins and to learn about my ancestors.

My goal is to help this family stay on track financially and to stay out of debt, other than our mortgage.

I never even left the house today

and it felt kind of good. (no fuel used either!!!) Today was also a no spend day. Tomorrow should be as well. However, Friday we may go to the FFA fundraiser in town. It is our towns 175th anniversery this weekend with a parade on Saturday.

It has been cool and raining off and on most of today. In fact. I don't think the sun ever came out. We had light though--the girls have been doing electrical experiments. You know, the old ones where you use a potato or lemon for a battery?? The also were able to get the light to come on with using an egg, a pickle and a lime.

DH is working a 12 hour overtime shift today-acutally, he is working 2 of them this week, leaving him with only 1 day off. He will be one tired pup by this weekend.

I try one day, one the weekend when I don't have to work, where the kids play games or do art, and we turn off as much electricity in the house as possible. It is fun for them to find ways to occupy themselves with no electricity. Hubby and I carpooled today in an effort to conserve gas also.
