About Me:

In 2006 I quit my city job of 20+ years to remarry, move and become a "farm wife". For the most part, I am a stay at home mom.

As of the 2007 school year, we are a homeschooling family.

We also farm. Our farms include a large garden, haying, horses, cows, geese, chickens, ducks, pigs, rabbits, 2 stocked ponds, small vineyard and an orchard.

We live at the main farm (the one with the animals) and our other farm is currently growing hay, nuts and firewood to harvest this fall.
In the spring we will be adding sheep, and turkeys.

We have 5 daughters, (including 2 sets of twins) 3 who are still at home.

I love to camp, travel, garden, fish, bake, do needlework, sew, genealogy and ride horses. One of my favorite places to travel to is Northern Indiana (LaGrange county), where I have Amish cousins and to learn about my ancestors.

My goal is to help this family stay on track financially and to stay out of debt, other than our mortgage.

Good deal on pizza

DH took DD1 out for a "date" tonight. They went to dinner and a movie.

So, I took dd3,4 and 5 out to use their pizza hut book-its. We did all right.
The book-its are for a free personal pan pizzas (one for each child). But, pizza hut was out of personal pan dough. They were also out of individual size dough.

So, they each got a medium--for free. Then I had a coupon for a free medium pizza when you buy a large specility.

Since they were out, the manager also gave us our drinks free. So, including tax and tip, it cost us $20 for 5 pizzas (all medium or large size) and 4 drinks. I brought home 2 1/2 boxes of pizza. And, he gave me my coupon back for the free pizza, so I can reuse it--it is on a saver card, no exp. date, and also gave the girls back their book its to reuse.

So, I froze one of the pizzas, and in a couple weeks when DH is on nights, we will reuse their bookits and bring their pizzas home to eat and I will heat the one I froze, and we will eat again for totally free.

Meanwhile, we also have enough pizza for lunch tomorrow for the 5 of us that will be here at lunch time, and probably still some left over.

So, 3+ meals for 4-5 people for $20 on take out isn't bad. I figure it will be around $1.53 each. (13 meals for $20)

Oh yea-the pizza hut manager also gave us to go cups full of soda as we left. (We had eaten in there tonight rather than bringing it home to eat)

Actually, this Pizza Hut is fairly new. We have eaten there 3 times, and all 3 times they have messed up our order, or been out of something--the manager remembered it and I think he is trying to keep us happy so we won't complain. At our first visit a friend of ours who owns a nearby Pizza Hut was there helping with some training. I think he is afraid we will bad mouth him, so he keeps us happy!!

You might consider writing a nice note to this managers manager. It sounds like he went above and beyond and I know a word of praise is never wasted..even on management. What a score!
