About Me:

In 2006 I quit my city job of 20+ years to remarry, move and become a "farm wife". For the most part, I am a stay at home mom.

As of the 2007 school year, we are a homeschooling family.

We also farm. Our farms include a large garden, haying, horses, cows, geese, chickens, ducks, pigs, rabbits, 2 stocked ponds, small vineyard and an orchard.

We live at the main farm (the one with the animals) and our other farm is currently growing hay, nuts and firewood to harvest this fall.
In the spring we will be adding sheep, and turkeys.

We have 5 daughters, (including 2 sets of twins) 3 who are still at home.

I love to camp, travel, garden, fish, bake, do needlework, sew, genealogy and ride horses. One of my favorite places to travel to is Northern Indiana (LaGrange county), where I have Amish cousins and to learn about my ancestors.

My goal is to help this family stay on track financially and to stay out of debt, other than our mortgage.

9 days down......now the $$ start

We made it through the first 9 days of the month. Next weekend the $$ start. To date, we have something like 2 weddings, 7 graduations and party invites and a baby shower......

All are family or very close friends, so a gift will be needed for each.

The baby shower really doesn't count as needing a gift--I make baby blankets and have 3 on hand already--a boy, a girl and an either or. I also have a few bibs I have cross stitched, so will give her one of those as well. I also have a bag full of baby items I got free from CVS or Walgreens that I will throw in--it includes several things such as a baby thermometer, small sized containers of powder, lotions and shampoo and 2 small packages of a dozen diapers.

I hate to just give cash, but you know what? It may be best. I am sure all the grads could use the cash as all are planning on college and I know the newly weds would welcome it as well.

I received several cash gifts amounting to several hundred dollars as a high school grad. I have to say after years of getting useless sweaters, slippers, socks, and thingmagjigs, cash was much appreciated and useful. As soon as I got it, I made up a shopping list of exactly wanted and had prices for each thing. I bought exactly what I wanted, things like bedding, towels, dishes, and school supplies. It was nice to be able to just buy it all without having to worry about anything and also buy what I wanted, not what someone thought I should have. I even had some money leftover to buy my first semester's worth of textbooks.
